The Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 3 Uplands are still looking a little scraggly, after three years of intensive landscaping. At least from the upper (eastbound) deck of the BQE, they don't entirely block the harbor view. Never mind that, what is that intriguing shadow on mound?

Back in New York after a few days in southern Chile. The road is clear to the volcano Osorno is clear, thanks to this guy.

Who would have guessed the Priced Rite store on Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside would have outlasted Radio Shack. I suppose we'll always need automobile supplies, stationery, housewares, paint and wallpaper, hardware, greeting cards, toys, and sewing notions.

Secondary back-up on the BQE as drivers react to the sign overhead: NJ Turnpike All Lanes Closed Exit 14. A fatal truck fire under an overpass in Linden caused an hours-long shut-down of both sides of the highway.By the time I crossed the Verrazano, the Staten Island Expressway was chock-a-block with motorists trying to find another way south.
