Shining High

I've been waiting for almost a year to capture these safety videos from Avianca's (the airline of Colombia) seat-back entertainment screens.
In the first, a nice but casually dressed young man reacts calmly to the fall of the oxygen masks (las máscaras). Only one máscara falls because, it appears, he is the only one on the flight. (Not my experience on Avianca.)
He reaches towards it and, as directed....
Puts the elastic strap around of the back of his head when suddenly...
A child appears! Where did she come from?!

Well, he goes on to the right thing of course. But it makes you wonder whether Stephen King or Garcia Marquez is the true poet of Colombia.

Days of Awe

Lee Street, Williamsburg. Over the BQE (September 2015)
In the Jewish calendar, the 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are known as the Days of Awe (Yamim Noraim). They often encompass the most beautiful days of the year.

Looks like somewhere in Sunset Park.
